TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES THAT I USE
Most basic thing: GTD techniqe by David Allen. Well, everybody knows David and Getting Things Done. If You dont - check David’s website and Wikipedia.
Another great tool is a Pomodoro Technique. I use it often when I have conceptual work. At the moment my pomodoro clock is ticking and I expect having this page written during 2 pomodoros.
I’m also great fan of Merlin Mann and „zero mail inbox” technique. I try to check my inbox only two times a day and process my inbox till empty. Another great tool useful during this step: Things! tasks and projects managing software. This program starts automatically when I open my MacBook. And yes - I’m a Mac user (but not a MacHead ;)). I have some iPhones, iPod’s and iPad (mostly occupied by my daughers). At work I use old MacBook white on steroids (SSD drive is the best upgrade I could imagine, next to lots of RAM).
